Apple has just launched a Firefox extension giving quick access to iCloud passwords. Thus, automatic pre-filling when connecting to a site can be done exactly as in Safari. Great news for Firefox users.

Firefox x Apple

Apple launched an extension iCloud Passwords for Firefox, allowing users to access and manage their iCloud passwords directly from the browser. The move expands Apple’s ecosystem beyond its own devices, providing more flexibility for those using Firefox on Windows or macOS.

The extension automatically synchronizes passwords with Mozilla’s browser, simplifying secure and centralized management. This initiative should appeal to European authorities who are urging Apple to open up to competition. A significant addition for Mozilla which is celebrating its 20 years despite a limited market share in the field of web browsers.

Since the release of iOS 18, Apple has launched a native Passwords application on its devices allowing clearer and more precise management for everyone. In this app, we find all the confidential codes including passwords, Wi-Fi codes and access keys. The firm has also made quite a bit of effort in this area to ensure that its users are comfortable when they are on a Windows machine.
