Apple has started offering certified refurbished models of the 2022 iPad Pro and iPad Air in its online store in the US for the first time. While France and Europe are not affected, there is a good chance that they will be in the coming weeks.
Apple took its time
A few months after renewing the two models, with the iPad Pro M4 and its OLED screen as well as the iPad Air M2 for the first time available in 13 inches, Apple offers their predecessors in a refurbished version, that is to say used and refurbished. And it is necessarily cheaper. But Apple took its time, more than two, while for example the recent MacBook Pro M3 is already listed as refurbished.
The models available on the refurb include the fourth-generation iPad Pro with an 11-inch display and M2 chip, the sixth-generation iPad Pro with a 12.9-inch display and M2 chip, and the fifth-generation iPad Air with M1 chip, all offered in different storage capacities and colors. These refurbished devices are priced between 15% and 20% off their original price.
Apple first introduced the iPad Air 5 in March 2022, followed by the M2 iPad Pros in October of the same year.
The conditions of the refurb
Refurbished iPads come with a new battery, a new outer shell, a white box, manuals, and accessories like a USB-C charging cable and a power adapter. Apple warrants that these devices undergo a thorough cleaning, inspection, and complete functionality testing.
Additionally, these refurbished devices come with a one-year limited warranty, a 14-day return policy, and are eligible for AppleCare+ coverage. A great way to buy with peace of mind.
The other solution is to watch out for promotions that can be found throughout the year, either on these “old” models or sometimes on the most recent ones. Note that the program Amazon Renewed is currently offering the M1 iPad Air for just €430also with one year warranty.
