After a year of important changes to its catalog, Apple is already working on updating its Cheapest iPadaccording to recent reports. The 11th generation of the popular device, which could see the light of day in the spring of 2025, promises substantial improvements in performance and storage, maintaining its essence as an accessible product within the company’s range of tablets.
In recent years, Apple has accustomed users to an annual launch of the standard iPad around the month of September, coinciding with the presentation of the new iPhones that takes place at Keynote that month, each year.
The iPad 11 does not follow Apple’s calendar
However, the arrival of the 10th generation iPad in October 2022 broke this pattern, and the new generation could do it again. According to rumors, the iPad 11 could be announced at an event in March or April 2025, possibly alongside the expected 4th generation iPhone SE.
This strategy would be a significant change for the guys at Tim Cook, who want to reposition their entry-level iPad not only as an economical device, but as a more relevant option in the market, recovering the importance it once had.
The price of the 10th generation iPad suffered a significant change after its launch: it started at $449 in the United States, but in May 2024 Apple reduced it to $349. This generated great expectations regarding the cost of the 11th generation model. This price adjustment probably also had to do with the incorporation of new chips in the range of tablets launched in May 2024.
Although Apple could keep this price more accessible, there is the possibility that it will increase again to more than 500 euros in Spain, leaving the tenth generation as a cheaper alternative. Whatever the scenario, rumors suggest that the company will continue using its strategy of offering different models to cover different market segments.
What’s new with the iPad 11 of 2025
Although a transformation as radical as the one brought by the design of the iPad 10 is not expected, the new model will include key improvements that will make it more attractive to users.
The most notable change will be the processor. Currently, the iPad 10 uses the A14 Bionic chip, introduced in 2020. The new version could incorporate the A17 Pro or even the A18, allowing it to support advanced features such as Apple Intelligence. In addition, Apple is expected to increase RAM memory to 8 GB, bringing it in line with its most current devices.
The screen size, which went from 10.2 to 10.9 inches in the previous generation, will likely remain the same. However, it is rumored that Apple could opt for a laminated screen, which would reduce the thickness of the device and would improve the visual quality.
Although cameras don’t seem to be a priority, there could be software improvements that optimize the images captured. On the other hand, an increase in base storage to 128 GB is also expected, leaving behind the current 64 GB.
The basic iPad remains one of Apple’s most popular devices, thanks to its balance between price and performance. With this new generation, the company seeks not only to maintain its relevance in the tablet market, but also to attract a broader audience by improving the device in key aspects.
With a launch expected in 2025, the 11th generation iPad is a necessary update that will strengthen Apple’s position in the budget tablet segment.
