Following the release of the final version of iOS 18.2 and others, Apple launched new beta versions for its major platforms, including iOS 18.3, macOS Sequoia 15.3, visionOS 2.3, tvOS 18.3, and watchOS 11.3, available exclusively to developers. Here is a summary of what’s new.
iOS 18.3 / iPadOS 18.3
Less than a week after the public release of iOS 18.2, Apple is already offering the first beta of iOS 18.3 (build 22D5034e). This new version does not yet have a public beta or official details on its new features.
The previous update had introduced major features like Genmoji, Image Playgroundand the integration of ChatGPT with Siri. But all this is not accessible to the French.
For iOS 18.3, we expect potential improvements such as:
- Next generation Siri with personal context.
- Priority notificationsintelligently classifying essential notifications.
- Support for robot vacuums in HomeKit.
- Apple Mail redesign on iPad and Mac.
The public release of iOS 18.3 is expected for end of January 2024followed by betas for iOS 18.4.
Go to the iPhone settings to upgrade to the new beta, if you have a linked developer account.
macOS Sequoia 15.3
Apple also launched macOS Sequoia 15.3 betafive days after the public release of macOS 15.2. We were particularly waiting for Genmoji, which is indeed available in beta 1 of macOS 15.3, after having appeared on iPhone and iPad in the previous version.
To install the update:
- Open System Settings.
- Go to General > Software Update.
- Activate them Developer Beta Updates.
- Download and install macOS 15.3.
As early betas may be unstable, developers are advised to install them on test machines.
visionOS 2.3
Apple also deployed the first beta of visionOS 2.3. We expect optimizations, in particular for EyeSight, the virtual screen of the Mac or even new immersive environments.
tvOS 18.3
As for tvOS 18.3, the beta doesn’t bring anything at first glance. Customers can expect new screensavers, as well as smart home improvements.
watchOS 11.3
Latest system, watchOS 11.3. The first beta has not revealed all its secrets, we have just installed it on Apple Watch 10 (in fact, our test is coming).
Betas for the holidays
These new beta versions mark the start of a new cycle of improvements for all Apple devices, just in time for the Christmas holidays. Although some specific features are yet to be discovered, users can expect innovations related to Apple Intelligence. Currently limited to English, Apple’s AI will arrive in April 2025 in France.
