As expected, Ark: Ultimate Mobile Edition is out on the App Store and Play Store, after being announced last July. For the occasion, the port of the Switch to mobile offers a new trailer allowing you to discover a game that is interesting in more than one way.
Meet the Ultimate Edition of ARK
For those unfamiliar with the franchise, Ark is fundamentally an open-world survival game where building and exploration are key, in environments ranging from prehistoric jungles to futuristic spaceships. You’ll encounter frequent setbacks at first, but as you progress, survival will become more manageable.
As the name suggests, Ark: Ultimate Mobile Edition brings the complete ARK experience to mobile, including the original island map and five expanded DLCs: Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction And Genesis Parts 1 & 2offering hundreds of hours of play, at a minimum. You can tame and ride primal creatures, engage in epic tribal wars, and discover the rich history of the ARKs through explorer’s notes and files.

Our tips for getting started
If you’re new to Ark, the tips for Ark: Survival Evolved are still relevant:
Hunter-gatherer:
Collect resources like wood, stone, and thatch to craft items. Collect stones on the ground and hit trees to get wood.
Don’t hit trees endlessly:
Avoid hitting trees and rocks with your fists to avoid injury. Craft a pickaxe from wood and stone to harvest efficiently.
Engrams:
Use experience points to unlock Engrams that allow you to craft new things, like weapons, base structures, and sleeping bags to respawn.
Dangerous territory:
Avoid areas with large carnivorous dinosaurs until you are well equipped. The game will warn you if you enter a dangerous area.
Hit it until it drops:
Collect resources by hitting until they fall to the ground. This also applies to combat: hit the small dinosaurs to get feathers, skins, etc.
Locate key areas:
Look for the white glowing beacons to find loot crates containing blueprints and essential materials for survival.
Shiny Dinosaurs to Avoid:
Dinosaurs with a reddish glow are extremely dangerous, cannot be tamed and attack on sight. Avoid them at all costs.
Patience is the mother of all virtues:
To get stronger dinosaurs, practice breeding. This requires a male and a female of the same species, time, and patience for the offspring to inherit good stats.
