Apple has confirmed that Bad Monkey, one of its most popular series of the year, will return for a second season in 2025. Here is what you need to remember about the upcoming season which will mark a break with the first.
Not a sequel to Hiassen’s novel
While the first season of Bad Monkey was based on Carl Hiaasen’s novel of the same name, season 2 will not adapt Hiaasen’s novel Razor Girl, according to a report from Variety.
This decision could still leave the door open to using Razor Girl as the basis for a future season. Series co-creator Bill Lawrence has previously hinted at a three-season arc for Bad Monkey, suggesting the team has a larger story plan in mind.
Lawrence, who also co-created Ted Lasso and Shrinking, shared his excitement about continuing the series:
I hope people know that Carl Hiaasen is an idol of mine and an inspiration to me as a writer. To be able to continue to tell his story with Vince Vaughn and this great cast – at least the characters who are still alive – is very exciting. I’m so grateful to our partners at Apple TV+ and Warner Bros, and the entire team who help bring this series to life.
A great success for Apple TV+
Bad Monkey debuted on Apple TV+ last summer and quickly rose to the top of the platform’s charts, receiving a warm reception from media and viewers for its mix of crime series and dark comedy. The action takes place in Florida with the excellent Vince Vaughn.
When will season 2 arrive?
Although no official release date has been announced by the Apple TV+ branch, there is no doubt that season 2 of Bad Monkey will not arrive before August 2025, approximately a year after the start of the first season.
Who has already watched Bad Monkey? Certainly one of the best programs on the platform.
