Developer PoomSmart is back with an “old” tweak. After recently offering us Pencil Pro and EmojiPort, he is releasing a tweak for the iPhone camera, CamElapsed+. In the “+” version, this tweak displays the milliseconds when the user starts recording a video under iOS 15 or iOS 16.
CamElapsed+ Tweak Preview
If the concept sounds familiar, it’s because a tweak with the same name has been available in the BigBoss repository for quite some time, at least since iOS 7.
However, with the advent of rootless jailbreaks on modern versions of Apple’s firmware, a redesign was necessary.
As you can see, once installed, CamElapsed+ adds subseconds to the Camera app interface while recording video, providing a more accurate representation of duration. An addition that should be native, but Apple has yet to deign to look into it.
This tweak also offers a preference panel in the Settings app, where users can configure sub-second precision in four options:
-
- Original (HH:mm)
-
- Decisecond (HH:mm:ss)
-
- Centisecond (HH:mm:ss)
-
- Millisecond (HH:mm:ss)
These options determine how precise the Camera app’s timer is to indicate the duration of video recording. Of course, not everyone needs this level of precision in Apple’s app. But some might find it very useful.
The good news is that CamElapsed+ is available for free on PoomSmart’s personal repository via their preferred package manager (Cydia, Sileo, Zebra, Installer). The tweak is compatible with jailbroken iOS 15 and iOS 16 devices in a non-root environment.
If you are not yet using the PoomSmart personal repository, you can add it to your package manager using the following URL:
