Although changing the iPhone battery It is something that we can do in many establishments and SATs throughout the country, perhaps, due to its price, or simply because we do not have one relatively close, we do not want to do it, and, therefore, we would like to know how long it would last.

Today we are going to see a real case (my experience), and what can happen with a degraded battery, even though it continues to work and provides acceptable autonomy, since it not only affects its duration, and is something very important.

How long does an iPhone battery last?

If we go to Apple’s website, we can see how the company itself tells us that, currently, iPhone 15 or higher have a useful life (or should) of 1,000 cycles preserving 80% or more of its capacity, while those prior to this model would meet that standard, but with 500 cycles, so the newer models would have to work perfectly after exceeding a thousand full charges.

We don’t know exactly if the improvement is real, or they have realized that most devices before the 15, like my 13 Pro, also met this range, exceeding 1,000 perfectly. What I can do is give you my personal experience.

At the moment, my iPhone 13 Pro has 1,543 charge cyclesand, as we can see in the image shown by the coconutBattery application, its capacity and useful life is around 80%, despite the fact that the iPhone itself already marks 79% for me.

iPhone 13 battery

What does this mean? Well, answering the initial question, yes, a current iPhone (and even more so if it is the iPhone 15 or higher), It could reach 2,000 cycles without any problemor at least working, however, there is something that must be taken into account, and that is that a degraded battery, especially below that 80%, could begin to offer negative performance on the iPhone, to the point that even the photographs come out worse, something that we already explained at the time and makes a lot of sense.

That is why, once we reach this point, and in my case it was with 1,500 cycles, it is best to replace it, even though the autonomy is still acceptable, since it will influence other aspects, and you may think that the iPhone no longer has the power that it offered in its day, and yet, it is all because of the battery, which would be solved by changing it.

Change iPhone battery

In short, yes, We can reach 2,000 cycles, but no, it is not recommendedsince we will notice a much worse phone, and although it costs 100 euros to change it, it is profitable, and we could have a new iPhone for another 2 or 3 years, or even sell it for a higher price, because many people I do value this point, and I would pay more for a phone in good condition.

And you, how many charge cycles have you had on your iPhone, what percentage does it have, and when do you think it is time to make the change? At 1,000, 1,500, 2,000? Leave us a comment with your opinion.
