Canal+ could play another nice move with Apple. After Apple TV+ included in the encrypted channel’s subscription in April 2023, the company belonging to the Bolloré group would be in the process of integrating Apple Music. This collaboration would thus bring a library of more than 100 million titles to the current offer of films and series.
A unique audio and video mix
This possible integration was identified thanks to a very particular clue: the subdomain apple-music.canalplus.comalthough currently unused, redirects to Canal+ offers.
It was the Canal offer specialist, Anaël sur X, who spotted this change, specifying in passing that a lambda subdomain usually redirects to an error page on the Canal site.

The current partnership between Apple and Canal+ currently covers France, French-speaking Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. This agreement aims to offer a seamless user experience, allowing subscribers to access Apple content directly via their Canal+ decoders without having to go through third-party applications. It also allows Apple to make a name for itself, since Canal+ is often praised for the quality of its catalog. The integration of Apple Music would therefore be part of this logic of enriching the offer, and would strengthen Canal+’s position as a complete entertainment platform. This would be a first in France.
Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of services, and Maxime Saada, president of Canal+, are long-time friends, with over 15 years of collaboration. Both share a long-term vision, viewing their relationship as a lasting partnership rather than a mere promotional operation.
Apple Music, the result of the acquisition of Beats Electronics, would have a golden opportunity to catch up with Spotify in Europe. Despite an identical catalog and advantages such as family sharing, lossless quality, spatial audio and the complete ecosystem, Apple remains behind the Swedish giant.
