With the release of the new Apple terminal, you can now give a unique and personalized touch to all your photos, adjusting tones, colors and intensities. Although this feature is not new, Apple has taken a step forward by offering even more powerful and easy-to-use options. In this article we will teach you everything you need to know to get the most out of the Photo Styles of your iPhone 16. It will look like you have a camera!
How Styles Work Photographs of the iPhone 16
Photo Styles on iPhone 16 are advanced settings that allow you to adjust specific colors in specific areas of your photos, modifying the overall appearance of the image without altering the exposure nor contrast like a traditional filter would.
In previous versions, styles were limited to only four options: High Contrast, Vivid, Warm, and Cool. Now, Apple has expanded the possibilities with new options such as Cool Rose, Neutral, Rose Gold, Gold, Amberand other more dramatic ones like Ethereal, Cozy and Dramatic.
These styles focus on manipulation of tones and colors to give a personalized touch, being especially useful in portraits. For example, Cool Rose accentuates cool pink tones in the skin, while Amber and Rose Gold highlight warmer undertones. This approach makes Photo Styles ideal for those who want a subtle touch, although there are also options for those looking for bolder effects.
Configure Styles Photographic
The process to set up a Photo Style on your iPhone 16 is quite simple. After you have taken at least four photos, you can head to Settings > Camera > Photo Styles. From there, you’ll be able to choose the style you prefer, whether based on skin tone (Cool Rose, Neutral, Amber, etc.) or a more general style like Luminous or Muted Black and White.
Once the style is selected, you can adjust its intensity by dragging your finger across the touchpad, which will change the brightness and saturation. With these adjustments, you can make your photos look unique and in line with your personal style. The best thing is that, once configured, the chosen Photo Style will automatically be applied to all the images you take in the future, becoming the new default setting for your camera.
If you want to change the style or return to the standard settings, simply return to Settings > Camera > Photo Styles and select the “Reset to standard” option.
Real-time preview
One of the biggest advancements of these Photo Styles on the iPhone 16 is the real-time preview capability. When you open the Camera app, you can tap the touchpad icon to select a different color tone or style, and by swiping you can switch between different Photo Styles. This allows you to see what the final image will look like before capturing it, giving you complete control over the outcome of your photos.
Additionally, you can access this feature using the Camera Control button. With light pressure, open the menu and select Styles or Tonefrom where you can make quick adjustments.
Edit Photo Styles after capturing an image
One of the most anticipated improvements in this feature is the ability to modify Photo Styles after taking a photo. Previously, styles could only be applied at the time of capture, but now you can edit an image’s style directly from the Photos app.
To do so, open the image you want to edit and tap the three bars to enter the editing interface. Then select Styles and adjust the tone, color and intensity using the touch panel.
This non-destructive editing system allows you to experiment with different styles without compromising the quality of the original photo. If you don’t like the result, you can always go back to the standard setting.
Requirements and image formats
It is important to note that Photo Styles are only available if you have activated the format HEIF (offers greater compression and efficiency). If you prefer to use JPG as your image format, you will not be able to take advantage of this feature. To change the format, go to Settings > Camera > Formats and select High Efficiency.

Maintain color settings
Once you’ve set your favorite Photo Style, iPhone 16 will automatically apply it to all your photos. However, if you change the style while taking a photo, those settings will only remain until you close the Camera app. If you want the style you select in the camera to become the new default, you must go to Settings > Camera > Maintain Settings and activate the option Photographic Style.
Compatibility with previous models
Although the new Photo Styles settings and settings are exclusive to the iPhone 16, if you take a photo with this device, you can also edit it on previous iPhones. You will be able to view and modify the style in the Photos app, although you will not have access to the new preview options and adjustments in real time.
