Disney+ has just ended subscription on the iOS application. To get around Apple’s tax and save even more, the streaming giant is forcing its users to go to the web page.

It is officialDisney+ removes the possibility of subscribing to one of its subscriptions directly via the iOS application. Disney joins the clan of Netflix, Spotify and others who do not wish to pay Apple’s 30% tax on subscriptions via its platform.
By connecting to the application without already being a subscriber, a message appears on the screen indicating that the subscription system is no longer available. A link provides direct access to the subscriptions web page. More restrictive for the user, but more economical for Disney+.
Current subscribers who have already purchased a subscription via the app on iPhone and iPad are not impacted. On the other hand, for new users or those who already have an account and wish to resubscribe, the website will be the only choice.
A measure that fits into the program of the company which is now in a phase of restrictions. Divorce with Canal+, end of account sharing, advertising on all packages, global increase in prices. After years of courting to build an audience, Disney is now focusing on profits. The same goes for the Hulu platform, unavailable in France.
