We strongly advise against using iPhone Mirroring with your corporate Mac at this time. A security flaw allows the department in charge of security in the company to potentially have a visual view of the personal apps that you have opened. Apple is working on a fix.

iPhone Mirroring: a mirror effect that’s a little too powerful

This is one of the new features this year, iPhone Mirroring. This new feature is a sort of “screen mirroring 2.0” which offers full control of the iPhone directly on the Mac via an overlay display of its screen. A superb invention which gives even more flexibility to the user.

However, it seems that a major problem is present and it is the American company Sevco which detected it. As explained in a long blog postopening iPhone apps on the Mac via this method will create subfolders directly in the Mac Finder.

If it’s a corporate Mac, the security service will therefore be able to know your personal applications remotely just by carrying out a small in-depth check. Not to mention the company software dedicated to this task which could unfortunately automatically report the information to the service.

A potential leak of internal personal data caused by Apple, a nightmare for the bitten apple which constantly advocates being a more secure company than the average. Sevco has obviously warned Apple, which is already in the process of creating a fix.

In France, no worries since iPhone Mirroring is still not available. The same reasons as for Apple Intelligence… By the way, note that iPhone Mirroring is available from us between an iPhone and a Vision Pro. Yes with the AR/VR headset, no with the Mac, go figure…
