While the iPad Pros are recent and the iPad mini was recently renewed with a 7th generation, we are entitled to wonder what will happen to the classic iPads? While the iPad 10 saw a price cut to boost sales, there is actually little chance that the iPad 11 will be announced in 2024.
We’ll probably have to wait until 2025 for the iPad 11
Marketed in October 2022, the iPad 10 has already celebrated its second candle and is starting to get old. However, despite its age, its characteristics remain convincing compared to Android tablets and it is possible that the Cupertino company decides to continue its marketing for several more months, or even more than a year.
As a reminder, the iPad 10 is equipped with the A14 Bionic chip, a powerful chip which still ensures solid performance in 2024. It is also equipped with a 12 megapixel wide-angle rear camera, ideal for most uses and remains compatible with the Apple Pencil. These specific features make it a relevant choice for those looking for an affordable tablet while taking advantage of the Apple ecosystem.
If you’ve been waiting for an iPad 11 to release this year, it seems unlikely to happen. Indeed, Apple recently reduced the price of the iPad 10, which could indicate that the device is here to stay for a few more months before a possible update. Additionally, Apple recently announced the iPad mini 7, an opportunity where it could have introduced an iPad 11 if it was scheduled for 2024. Yet no sign of this new entry-level model has been mentioned, which confirms the absence of such an imminent update.
Last month, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman raised the possibility of the upcoming release of new entry-level iPads, in parallel with the first Macs equipped with M4 chips. If this rumor had aroused customers’ hopes of seeing an iPad 11, it is now increasingly likely that the iPad 10 will continue to dominate the range for some time to come.
