Among Apple TV+’s flagship series we find Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, Presumed Innocent and… Severance! The latter attracted many Apple TV+ subscribers who watched the episodes one after the other. While season 2 is arriving soon and a first teaser has been posted online, we learned today that all the episodes of the first season will soon be available on Blu-Ray!

Apple breaks the exclusivity of the first season of Severance

Apple TV+’s acclaimed science fiction series “Severance” will make an exceptional entry into the physical universe with a Blu-ray release on December 17, 2024. This launch strategically coincides with the end-of-year holidays, a period when DVD and Blu-ray box sets are more popular gifts than one might imagine. By choosing this date, Apple hopes to attract fans of the series, while capitalizing on the growing anticipation for the second season, scheduled for January 2025.

Launched in February 2022, “Severance” quickly established itself on Apple TV+. In France, the series won over the public with a spectator rating of 4.4/5 on AlloCiné, a score comparable to classics like breaking Bad Or The Walking Dead. Faced with this enthusiasm, Apple has renewed “Severance” for a second season, the first episode of which will be broadcast exclusively on Apple TV+ from January 17, 2025.

If Apple has sometimes “broken the exclusives” of certain of its series to sell the rights to television channels, as was the case for “Defender Jacob” broadcast on TF1 in France, it is rare to see an Apple series being marketed in Blu-ray or DVD form.

Distribution handled by Fifth Season

According to the report, it is not Apple that will distribute the Blu-ray, but Fifth Season, the co-production company of the series. For now, the Blu-ray version of the first season of “Severance” is available for pre-order exclusively on Amazon in the United States. France should soon follow, with pre-orders expected to open in the coming days or weeks.
