While we’re still waiting for the new round of emojis previewed in May, likely planned for the launch of iOS 18.4 next spring, emoji fans are already getting a sneak peek at all of the new creations offered for the 2025/2026 season, i.e. iOS 19!
New emojis coming
Emojipedia has just published an overview of these potential new additions in version 17, accompanied by pictorial examples.
The highlights of the next emojis for the “2025/2026 season” are:
- A “hairy creature” inspired by Bigfoot.
- An astonished face.
- A cloud of “fight”.
- A ballet dancer.
- An apple core.
- An orca, also known as a killer whale.
- A paperclip.
- A landslide.
- A chest full of treasures.
In total, 164 emojis were selected on first reading. Assuming they are approved, they will likely arrive in iOS 19 in late 2025 or early 2026.
These designs were provided in a Google Noto Color Emoji style provided by Jennifer Daniel of Google or members of their emoji design team. Daniel is also the chair of Unicode’s Emoji subcommittee since 2020.

The 164 proposed emojis are all candidate emoji projects for Emoji 17.0. Unicode 17.0 and Emoji 17.0 are still in draft form and are therefore subject to change.
In the meantime, you may know that iOS 18.2 allows you to have a bunch of custom emojis via Apple Intelligence. The Genmoji feature allows users to create their own unique emojis by typing a few words.
