The best thing about all this is that an iPhone will not be necessarysince sharing an AirTag from Apple to Apple is now possible and simple, but anyone, whether they have an Android, or even does not use a phone and has a computer, will be able to see, in real time, its location through a link, which not only helps us share, but, for example, you yourself will be able to track your Windows PC if you wish, something that was not previously possible.
Once found, we can cancel this link and everyone who had it will be left without access, so we can continue using our AirTag with complete privacy. If you do not do it manually, once it is found or 7 days have passed, it expires, so you will have to generate another one if you wish, although it is a good way so that we do not forget to remove people's access.
The new feature to share a lost item works with AirTags and other devices that connect to the Find My network from Apple, which means that it will not only be for these, and that even an Apple Pencil or another accessory that works with this network can be shared with third parties for search.
For now it is only compatible with versions higher than iOS 18.2, so if you want to try it you must have your iPhone updated, recommended to iOS 26. However, your friend will not need this, since, as we said, this function is not exclusive to iPhone, and you will be able to see the location, in real time, from a browser, even Android, so there are no minimum requirements, only that you can access the corresponding link from any system.
