A few days ago I had the opportunity to travel to Dubai for work, and in addition to being dazzled by its imposing architecture, I was able to discover something that is not yet available in Spain: iPhone Mirroringthe new iOS 18 feature that allows you to share and manage the iPhone screen directly from the MacBook.

It may sound like a minor feature, but as soon as you try it, you realize how incredible it is and how rare it seems that something like this is possible.

iPhone Mirroring is amazing

In essence, what iPhone Mirroring does either Screen mirroring is allowing you to view and control your iPhone from the Mac screen. It is something so fluid that it seems like magic. You can open apps, reply to messages, read notifications, and even navigate your iPhone’s system without touching it. Everything, with the MacBook’s trackpad and keyboard. The most surprising thing is how naturally this experience is integrated: opening WhatsApp, checking email or entering Instagram from the Mac desktop feels so intuitive that in a few minutes you forget that, technically, you are operating a different device.

Notification management is another gem of this feature. By having iPhone alerts directly on your Mac screen, you can keep your phone out of the way, which helps reduce distractions and save battery life. It is not only a question of comfort, but also of efficiency: you spend less time jumping between devices and more time focused on what really matters.

Why can’t we use it in Spain?

The experience is so good that, upon returning to Spain and not being able to use the function, frustration was inevitable. Once again, Apple has implemented a spectacular tool that, for some reason, is not available in Europe. Although the company has not given specific explanations, everything points to restrictions on privacy and strict regulations of the European Union.

This is not the first time we have encountered a similar situation. It also happens with other functions such as Apple Intelligence and improvements in Siri, which, apparently, will not reach our region until middle of next year. With iPhone Mirroring, the scenario seems the same: a revolutionary feature that, for now, remains out of our reach.

Unfortunately, the question of when iPhone Mirroring will arrive in Europe remains unresolved. Apple tends to be pretty secretive when it comes to timelines, but the company is most likely working to bring the feature in line with European regulations. In the meantime, we will have to wait and see how users in other regions enjoy a tool that completely changes the way they interact with the iPhone.

Being able to control the iPhone from the Mac screen is an experience that is even futuristic. It is a shame that, for the moment, in our country we cannot enjoy it. Even so, after testing it, it is clear to me that this function has the potential to become one of the best new features of iOS 18. Apple, once again, has made us dream about the future, although this time it is our turn wait a little longer to live it.
