Apple today announced the release of iOS 18.2, which includes the second batch of features based on “Apple Intelligence”. However, several important features announced at last summer’s developer conference have yet to be fully rolled out. Here’s an update on the status of some of these features according to the company’s latest press release.

The three unfinished features

  1. Priority notifications : Despite the availability of a related feature, “Reduce Interruptions”, which already prioritizes important notifications, the broader feature “Priority Notifications” has not yet been released. Apple promised this would happen soon, indicating ongoing development.
  2. Genmoji on Mac : This innovative feature allows users to create custom emojis via a description. Although it is now available on iPhone and iPad with iOS 18.2, macOS users will have to wait a little longer. Apple noted that Genmoji Creation “will be available on Mac in the coming months,” suggesting that the company is refining the interface for this feature on Mac, likely integrating it into the emoji picker or accessible via a click secondary.
  3. “Sketch” style in Image Playground : There has been speculation about the fate of the Sketch style in Image Playground, but Apple clarified in today’s press release that this feature, which offers academic and detailed drawings using a palette in bright colors, is still on the way. This indicates that Apple is still perfecting its artistic capabilities.

Additionally, Apple reiterated that an April software update will significantly increase the number of languages supported by Apple Intelligence, expanding its usability globally.

All other announced features are expected to be released “soon” or “in the coming months.” The community is eagerly awaiting the next round of beta releases to provide insight into upcoming improvements to Apple Intelligence. We can therefore bet on iOS 18.3 or iOS 18.4 to close this first AI sequence from Apple.

In the meantime, see you this evening at 7 p.m. to download the software updates.
