The myVW app comes to Apple Watch
Volkswagen has just made access to the car from the wrist even easier: the myVW app now works on the Apple Watch for MY20 models onwardsas long as you have an active connected services plan. The idea is simple and very practical: perform common actions without taking out your cell phone.
From the clock you can lock or unlock the vehiclemake it beep or flash the lights to find it in a parking lot and check the general status (for example, if the doors are closed). In electric vehicles, the options are expanded: start or stop charging, see the battery level and activate the climate control before entering the car. On thermals, functions include remote start and fuel check. All of this is an extension of the iPhone app, designed for quick shortcuts from the wrist.
Configuring the function is very simple, since we will only have to install the myVW app on the iPhone, accept the permissions, add your vehicle to the “virtual garage” and hire the plan that gives remote access. Once done, the version for Apple Watch will be installed automatically and will not serve as a more convenient method that avoids removing the phone every now and then (as well as the physical key).
It may not be a revolutionary change, but it makes daily life much more convenient: things that previously required taking out your phone can now be done in seconds with a simple touch of the wrist. For those who are always in a hurry or have their hands full, being able to control the car like this is very useful.
