I’m sure you’ve heard that leaving your Mac charging at maximum, or running out of battery, is bad, no matter how extreme it is, however, is it really true? Does it affect as much as they say? Today we are going to see the best way to take care of this component and if it is really harmful to do this.

It must be said that it will depend on each person’s use, and whether or not we need that 100% battery for our daily lives, since the most important thing, especially if we have a Mac, is to be able to enjoy it, without obsessing over this problem, which, as we will see, is not a big deal.

Is it bad for a Mac to completely discharge?

If you look for information on the internet, you will see the same thing everywhere, and that is that the ideal is to maintain any battery, whether it is a Mac, iPhone or any other device, between 20% and 80%because approaching the limits, whether above or below, is not the best, however, is it a big deal?

Mac Battery

The truth is that no, and although it is advisable to follow these percentages, especially when we are at home and we don’t mind connecting the equipment, it is not relatively bad, or at least not today, since most equipment , especially those from Apple, have systems that make your device turn off before reaching 0, or before completing 100%, even though you see that number, it is fictitious, and it never fully charges, nor, in the same way, is it downloaded complete (unless many days pass with it at 0).

Therefore, although it is still better to try to meet that range, it may take hundreds of loads for you to notice the degradation, something that would still happen even if we do everything perfectly, so the question is:it’s worth it 1% more battery after 1 year, due to having sacrificed 20-40% of its total capacity, trying to make it move between 20 and 80, and not using it completely? For my part I would say no.

Change iPhone battery

Currently, my iPhone, without charge limits, has more than 80% after 1,000 charges, something that happens on the Mac with just over 500, and which makes me think about, how much would I have if I had done it right? The truth is that I doubt that the change is relevant, so, despite going against all the information we can find on the subject, I do not think it is worth it, and It’s not a bad thing if your Mac completely dischargesat least if it is not every day, since the difference will not be noticeable, and you will be able to avoid having to be aware of its charge at all times.

And you, are you one of those who continue to charge your devices according to theory, or, like me, do you prefer to enjoy them as they are, trying to take care of them but without stressing over data like this? Leave us a comment with your opinion about it.
