If you subscribe to Disney+ via Canal+, you probably already know that the agreement signed between the two groups in 2019 will end at the beginning of 2025. A few months ago, Canal+ had already started to downgrade the Disney+ offer, offering only the standard subscription with advertisements (at €5.99/month) instead of the standard subscription, without advertising, and usually billed at €8.99/month.

Canal+ definitively deprived of Disney+ from January 2025

Remember that the agreement in question allowed the Canal+ group to include the big ears subscription to its platform in the Ciné series, Friends and Family offers. Also, on the Disney side, we wanted to clarify things: “From January 1, 2025, Canal+ customers will no longer be able to watch our new films, nor access Disney+ or our television channels via their subscription. However, all of our productions – films, series, documentaries – will remain accessible to everyone directly on Disney+.

In other words, to continue to enjoy Disney+ through Canal+, you will need to take out a subscription to the American giant’s platform. No new agreement between the two groups therefore, with a divorce already recorded, and too bad if this somewhat spoils the fortieth anniversary of the encrypted channel, launched on November 4, 1984.

The agreement signed in 2019 between the two groups concerned on the one hand the inclusion of Disney+ in Canal+’s offers, but also priority broadcasting of Disney films (Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, 20th Century Fox, Blue Sky, etc.). ) on Canal+. You will now have to wait 17 months after their theatrical release, according to the media timeline

Recently, Disney+ announced a new policy aimed at monetizing the sharing of accounts between friends or family members who do not live under the same roof. As with Netflix, Disney+ wishes to offer a legal (and paid) alternative to those who wish to continue to share their account, now for an additional fee.

Since its launch in France in 2020, Disney+ has captured the hearts of many users. If the platform initially offered a single subscription (less than €10/month), the situation has changed somewhat in recent months, with a very rich catalog but also an increase in prices: between €5.99 and €13.99 per month in France. Wouldn’t the little mouse become a bit of a rat…?
