At the start of the year, LG unveiled new features for WebOS 24, the Smart TV interface of its televisions, with a focus on improving ergonomics and functionality. If WebOS 24 brings developments such as integrated Chromecast, multiview with up to 4 windows at the same time or even sports alerts, it is above all the Re:New functionality that interests customers. Indeed, this allows, for the first time for the Korean, the OLED leader, to obtain four years of major updates. A bit like on an iPhone or Android, owners of an OLED or miniLED television since 2022 will be able to benefit from major developments for a while. For example, an LG TV purchased in 2024 will receive updates up to WebOS 28 in 2028.

Several new features for WebOS 24

The WebOS 24 interface, delivered automatically with the 2024 models, offers a new layout, divided into four zones. At the top, a carousel highlights partner content, followed by dynamic cards organizing the content by theme (Music, Sport, etc.). The third row groups installed apps, while the fourth offers personalized recommendations based on user profile. Each profile can be password protected to prevent unauthorized access to certain content.

One of the key new features of WebOS 24 is the profile selection by voice recognition. For example, if a child asks for cartoons, the television will automatically change profiles based on the detected voice.

Another important addition: the function Multiview. On LG M4 and G4 models, it allows you to display up to four independent video windows. Two windows can be linked to HDMI sources (console, Blu-ray player), and the other two to platforms like Netflix or YouTube. Each window operates autonomously, allowing you to navigate between content without leaving Multiview mode.

Finally, WebOS 24 continues to support Matter and AirPlay 2 protocols, while adding built-in Chromecast, providing improved compatibility with Android devices. Clearly, LG televisions are celebrating the tenth anniversary of WebOS with dignity, with the ambition of reaching 300 million devices equipped by 2026.
