In order to work more fluidly and optimized with the different versions of Windows, Microsoft provides various key combinations. This is the case with the Win + C keyboard shortcut, which the software giant decided to remove from the latest version of the system, but now appears to have changed its mind.
Specifically, we’re referring to the fact that Microsoft will now be bringing back the aforementioned Win + C shortcut for various tasks in Windows 11. The truth is that over time and with more use of the operating system, we’re getting used to using a series of key combinations to help us work more quickly on our PCs every day.
However, despite all the combinations of this type available in Microsoft software, the company suddenly decided to eliminate Win + C. At the same time, many of you already know that the company is investing heavily in the use of artificial intelligence in Windows and many other projects. This is precisely one of the main reasons why it has decided to bring back the keyboard shortcut we mentioned.
Basically, this change is being implemented because from now on, Windows + C will be extremely useful when opening AI Copilot in Windows 11. The company wants to boost the use of this growing technology in Windows and the rest of its applications, hence the return of the key combination.
Microsoft wants you to use Win + C to open more Copilots
As expected, making these smart features built into the operating system as easy to access as possible is likely to boost their use. And best of all, it seems the use of this key combination we’re talking about isn’t going to end there.
And as the company itself informs us, it will also allow us to change the initial behavior of the keyboard shortcut, to open other apps installed in Windows 11. Therefore, this means that Win + C will work in a similar way to how the Copilot key does on PCs with Copilot +. For many users, Windows + C is one of the cursed Windows keyboard shortcuts. The main reason for all this, for example, is that it was once associated with the use of Cortana, that despised Windows assistant that was never what was expected a priori. When using the keyboard shortcut, Cortana’s voice mode opened, which became a nightmare for many.
However, following the retirement of the Cortana assistant, Microsoft has now updated it to open Copilot. For some reason, Win + C was retired again, but it’s now making a comeback to facilitate the constant use of AI in Windows 11. At the same time, and as we told you, we can change its behavior to open other apps of our choice.
