Microsoft has announcement that it will soon merge its Xbox and Xbox Game Pass apps on iPhone, iPad, and Android, in order to offer a unified experience. The timing is certainly not insignificant, because the American giant must also release its own alternative App Store with games from its successful console licenses.

Xbox Game Pass coming soon to Xbox

Features from the Xbox Game Pass app will be integrated into the Xbox app, allowing users to manage their Game Pass subscription, browse the game catalog, view and redeem perks, and more. As part of this transition, Microsoft said the Xbox Game Pass app will be removed from the App Store starting in November.

Microsoft wants a single Xbox app with Game Pass on mobile

For those who don’t know, Game Pass is a subscription service that offers access to a regularly updated selection of games to download and play on Xbox or Windows PC. It’s the equivalent of Sony’s PS Plus Premium.

While the Game Pass app allows you to search, browse, and download games from the catalog, it is not possible to play them directly on iPhone or iPad, at least not yet. However, integrating these features into the Xbox app will simplify the management of the service across all platforms, providing a more fluid and harmonized experience for users.

We are now waiting for the possibility of playing in streaming in the app (only possible on the web to date) as well as the alternative store in Europe. Let us also recall that the Epic Games Store is available with Fortnite and Fall Guys, in particular.
