The mobile phone market seems to have found a new battle beyond megapixels: battery life. According to a recent leak from the specialized website GizmochinaXiaomi would be working on a mid-range device under its Redmi sub-brand that would integrate a gigantic 10,000 mAh battery. This represents a huge leap from the current industry standard, which is usually just around 5,000 mAh.

The well-known leaker Digital Chat Station assures that this immense stack will not come alone, since the manufacturer plans to incorporate 100W fast charging. This decision is key: charging 10,000 mAh at conventional speeds would be an absolute nightmare, so this high power would balance the balance. However, we cannot help but be a little critical of this spectacular promise, since it remains to be seen how much the thickness and weight of the final device will increase to be able to house such an energy monster without becoming a pocket brick.

Specifications of the mysterious device

Beyond the generous battery, the leaked features point to an extremely complete terminal. It would have a Dimensions processor mid-range, a chassis with a metal frame that would provide a certain sensation premium and a fast optical fingerprint reader. Its front panel would be a 1.5K resolution LTPS with a flat design, accompanied by an imposing 200 megapixel main camera. On paper it sounds excellent, but we will have to check if Xiaomi's image processing really manages to get decent use out of that photographic sensor in real life.

While Xiaomi sharpens its weapons to dominate the mid-range, other brands are not standing idly by in this sudden race for extreme resistance. Honor, for its part, is trying to break paradigms by trying create a 11000 mAh terminalthus surpassing direct competition and demonstrating that ambition has no ceiling.

Would you be willing to carry a much thicker and heavier phone in your pants in exchange for forgetting about the charger for several days?
