It has been more than 1 month since Apple launched the new iPhone modelsamong which was the iPhone 17, this year's basic version, which, unlike others, came with everything that users had been asking for for a long time, so it became a great opportunity.
The price remained at 959 euros, and in addition to everything it was missing, such as a 120 Hz screen, they offered us double the storage than the iPhone 16 without increasing the cost, so, although the Pro will always be better, the difference with these was no longer so great.
The good and the bad of the iPhone 17
Today, I will tell you, personally, my pros and cons about this phone, which do not have to be the same as what another user thinks, but which, after trying many Apple models, are what I see.
Pros:
- Screen: Not only do we have the 120 Hz that we have been asking for for a long time, but better brightness outdoors, and a larger panel, due to smaller edges, so in the same size we carry more and better.
- Storage: As I already mentioned, this year they give us, in the base model, 256 GB, which is more than enough for most users, and double what we had in the iPhone 16 and earlier, which seems not, but it is noticeable.
- Fast charging: They have managed to improve the power that the device accepts in terms of charging, so now we can have a 50% battery in just 20 minutes, something that is appreciated, and although it does not reach the time of other rivals, it is beginning to get close.
- Price: Maintaining the same cost as years ago, with these changes, and being the smallest of the family, is a very positive point, since for less than 1,000 euros we can have a “high” range iPhone.
Cons:
- Battery: Although most articles and experiences are good, in my case, after coming from an iPhone 13 Pro, I do not notice an improvement, and I would even say that it lasts less, despite the fact that it is still adapting to iOS 26, so, for now, it remains a con.
- Cameras: Its lenses are very good, but obviously that is what differentiates it from the Pro models. Not having an optical zoom or LiDAR scanner means that, for photography fans, it may fall short, without detracting from the quality of its photos with the cameras it has, since it is one of the points that Apple greatly emphasizes as strong.
The truth is that, if I had to rate the phone, and waiting for an improvement in the battery, as Apple promises on its website, I would rate it with a 9/10 in relation to quality and price, since it has everything that we requested years ago, and without an increase in cost, so you cannot ask for more.
