As seen earlier, Apple plans to add new health-related features to future AirPods models. While we don’t yet have anything concrete to sink our teeth into, the leak of the next Powerbeats Pro 2 is more than interesting. For the record, Apple has owned the Beats brand since 2014.
A health-focused function
Last September, we mentioned that the Powerbeats Pro 2 will offer heart rate monitoring during workouts, which should also come to the AirPods Pro 3. But that’s not all. According to the findings of MacRumors in the iOS 18 code, you will also be able to connect the Powerbeats Pro 2 to fitness equipment like a treadmill to measure heart rate, and the data will be visible in the Health app and other third-party apps supported by the ‘iPhone. Apple previously announced that the Powerbeats Pro 2 will be released in 2025, almost certainly followed by the AirPods Pro 3.
While heart rate monitoring has been mentioned several times for AirPods Pro, we’re still waiting. A priori, the Powerbeats Pro 2 will inaugurate it.
According to some rumors, AirPods could also benefit from a body temperature detection function in the future, similar to what has been offered since the Apple Watch Series 8 on the brand’s watches. But the precision would be better in the ear canal.
