Satechi has just revealed its future hub designed specifically for the latest 2024 Mac mini, promising to significantly improve its connectivity and storage options. The one who is our favorite this year, thanks to its ultra compact design, its high performance and its low price, could find a companion of choice there.
What if it was the perfect accessory for your Mac mini?
Here is a presentation of the key points of the Satechi hub for the new Mac Mini M4:
- Simplified access: Front-facing ports make connectivity easy.
- High-end manufacturing quality: Sleek aluminum construction with a slim profile and heat dissipation vents for optimal airflow and performance.
- USB-A extension : The hub adds three USB-A ports, complementing the USB-C and Thunderbolt ports on new Mac mini models, making it easier to connect existing devices.
- SD card slot : Addressing one of the Mac mini’s notable omissions, this hub includes a front-facing SD card slot, similar to the one you’d find on the Mac Studio, for convenient access.
- Upgrading Storage via NVMe : Perhaps most notably, it features an NVMe enclosure, allowing the addition of up to 4TB SSD storage, providing a cost-effective solution compared to Apple’s expensive upgrade options for storage internal.
The hub’s design obviously matches the Mac mini perfectly with its aluminum construction, ensuring that it fits seamlessly into the aesthetic of the computer designed by Apple’s engineers. Satechi took care to maintain the airflow and Wi-Fi performance of the Mac mini with this accessory.
Although pricing details remain unknown, the hub won’t be available until spring 2025 in the United States, and likely beyond in France. Better, the San Diego-based manufacturer plans to offer a version without an NVMe box for those who do not need additional storage.
Customers interested in the product can register on the Satechi website and receive a 20% discount upon release. The company will also sell its accessory on its official Amazon store, as it currently does for the Mac mini M1 and M2 hub.
