Apple TV+ has announced that the crime series “Dope Thief” will premiere worldwide on March 14, 2025. This new eight-episode program is designed by Peter Craig, known for “The Batman” and “Top Gun: Maverick,” and benefits from the executive production of Ridley Scott, famous for films like “Gladiator”, “On Mars” and “Blade Runner”, who also directs the first episode. The series also stars and is executive produced by Academy Award nominee Brian Tyree Henry, known for “Atlanta,” “Causeway” and “Bullet Train.”

A big budget series

The first two episodes of this very big budget series will be broadcast on March 14, and new episodes will be broadcast every Friday until April 25, 2025, as is now tradition at Apple.

“Dope Thief” is adapted from the book of the same name by Dennis Tafoya (see on Amazon) and focuses on two longtime friends from Philadelphia who pose as DEA agents for a small heist, which escalates into a dangerous exposure of a major drug trafficking route on the East Coast.

Henry joins actors Wagner Moura (“Narcos,” “Civil War”), Marin Ireland (“The Umbrella Academy,” “Sneaky Pete”), Kate Mulgrew (“Star Trek: Prodigy,” “The Magnificent Meyersons”) in this gripping tale. “), Nesta Cooper (“See”), Amir Arison (“The Blacklist”) and Ving Rhames, Golden Globe winner for the series “Mission: Impossible”.
