Stardew Valley fans who love the mobile version can rejoice, it has just received the long-awaited 1.6 update, bringing the game on iPhone and Android to the same level as the main game on consoles, Mac and PC. Filled with new content, it promises to revive interest in the famous farm simulator. Here is an overview of the new features, including a hidden one that is worth the detour! Of course, we will reveal the trick to access it.
What’s new in Stardew Valley on mobile
New events and items
First of all, version 1.6 introduces three new festivals – Desert Festival, Trout Derby and SquidFest – which enrich an already busy gaming calendar. Players can also explore a whole new type of farm, Meadowlandsand choose from new pet breeds. On top of that, seasonal decorations, new items, and upgrades like stunts and winter outfits for NPCs add an extra touch of customization.
Improved game mechanics
Another big new feature is the introduction of skill books, allowing players to develop new skills, while fishing frenzies and an advanced mastery system for end-game play add new challenges for even greater replayability. .
New mine layouts also increase variety, and a series of quality of life improvements and performance optimizations make the game smoother than ever.
If the attraction of Stardew Valley no longer needs to be proven, these new features provide something extra that will please both long-time players and those who are considering getting started. The update is already available on iOS, and should arrive soon on Android. But that’s not all, because the developers have inserted a surprise: multiplayer mode!
Indeed, a hidden multiplayer mode is now accessible for the first time on Android and iOS. This feature allows mobile players to join each other’s farms, like on the desktop and console versions, to work together in real time. To connect, you have to manually enter an IP address, a system that works best on a local network, but also allows mobile devices to connect to PC-hosted farms.
Multiplayer on mobile works similarly to other platforms, although there is no farm discovery feature. For the best experience, it is recommended to use a high-end mobile device connected to a local Wi-Fi network (or an Ethernet cable via the USB-C port for example), especially when connecting to a hosted farm on PC.
How to access multiplayer mode?
Access to multiplayer mode is not immediately visible in the mobile application. To activate it, players must unlock it using a “secret” code on the start screen, a sort of Konami code, older players will understand.
By pressing the leaves around the “Stardew Valley” logo in this order — up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right (↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← →) — followed by the “?” in the lower right corner, the “Coop” button will appear. Players will then be able to enter an IP address and start a multiplayer game. Consult the official website to learn more about hidden multi mode!
This should trigger a wave of downloads, right? Go to the App Store or Play Store.
