It’s the kind of unexpected fact that brings a smile to your face. Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos will make an appearance in Apple TV+’s upcoming comedy series, “The Studio,” created and starring Seth Rogen. Despite the rivalry between the streaming giants, Rogen revealed to Vanity Fair that the boss of the precursor of the sector had agreed to make an appearance. A famous cameo as people in the cinema say.
An opportunity
Seth Rogen, the famous Canadian actor, comedian, producer, screenwriter and director, explained that the arrival of Ted Sarandos on board the project was planned on the back of a table. He explained that he didn’t even seek prior approval from Apple:
I just sent him an email. I didn’t ask our Apple partners if I could do this. I sent him the script and explained, “We have this joke where you impart wisdom that has a real impact on my character’s journey. »
He immediately responded, “Yes, if I can fit it into my schedule, I would love to.” »
A nice blow for Rogen and therefore Apple, which offers itself a guest star in the presence of the boss of Netflix. If we understand correctly, the latter does all this for free.
About “The Studio”
As you probably know, “The Studio” is a ten-episode satirical comedy about a struggling film studio struggling with its declining cultural relevance. Rogen plays the role of Matt Remick, the new head of the studio.
The series explores the chaotic world of Hollywood through the lens of humor, with many high-profile cameos. Confirmed guests include legendary director Martin Scorsese, filmmaker Zack Snyder and actors Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Adam Scott (Severance) and others.
In addition to Rogen, the main cast includes Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz and Chase Sui Wonders. This is Rogen’s second Apple TV+ project following the success of “Platonic,” starring Rose Byrne, which was renewed for a second season.
If you’re sold, “The Studio” will premiere exclusively on Apple TV+ on March 28, 2025, with the first two episodes airing on launch day. The remaining episodes will air weekly, until May 23, 2025.
