About ten years ago, the App Store welcomed the phenomenon Flappy Bird, an incredibly difficult game despite its appearance. After a phenomenal success, the developer pulled it without warning. Well, the side-scrolling game is coming back to the iPhone.
A game that marked a generation
Released in 2013, Flappy Bird was quickly downloaded tens of millions of times, before being abruptly removed from the App Store in 2014, its creator, Dong Nguyenbelieving it to be too addictive. The developer also didn’t like being exposed like that.
Flappy Bird was a simple game where players tapped the screen to fly a small bird through columns of green pipes (inspired by Super Mario) without hitting them, with the goal of going further and further, similar to Jetpack Joyride. official website The upcoming reboot promises new characters and game modes, including one with 100 players and another where you have to get the bird through basketball hoops. Players of Flappy Dunk Voodoo fans should appreciate this.
Flappy Bird will return to various platforms, including the web, with native iOS and Android apps planned for 2025. The game’s revival is being led by the “Flappy Bird Foundation”a “new group of passionate fans determined to share the game with the world.” The group claims to have acquired the official rights to the Flappy Bird trademark.
It’s been a ten-year, complex journey to get to this point, but we’re so excited to finally be able to share Flappy Bird with the world again.
