As in each iOS versionDuring the year, beta versions are launched with more new features, fewer errors, and ultimately, more mature ones, which become official once users begin to test it and indicate that everything is fine.
At this moment we are going for iOS 18.3which has already reached its final beta, and, therefore, will be released in the coming days to the general public, so if you have a compatible iPhone, you can download it and take advantage of all these new features that come with it.
What’s new in iOS 18.3
There have been several betas, where, in each of them, new changes appeared that we have been commenting on, however, we are going to summarize them all in this final beta, since it will be the one we will see, possibly, next week.
- Visual Intelligence: For iPhone 16 users, it is now possible to add events to Calendar from information on posters or brochures, as well as identify plants and animals using the camera.
- Notification Summary: Apple has temporarily paused notification summaries for news and entertainment apps due to errors in headline generation. The feature will be clearly labeled as beta and will allow you to disable specific notifications from the lock screen or Notification Center.
- Calculator: The ability to repeat the last math operation by repeatedly pressing the equals button has been reintroduced, a feature present in versions prior to iOS 18.
- Transitions in Shortcuts and Messages: New transition animations have been implemented in the Shortcuts app, and similar changes are anticipated to come to the Messages app in future updates.
- Apple Intelligence integration in Shortcuts: There are signs that Apple is working on integrating Apple Intelligence with the Shortcuts app, which could offer more advanced automations in the future.
From what we see, the changes are not spectacular, but they do correct some previous errors, and even add functions that were already present in previous versions, but that they removed, and the public requested again, so, as we talked about at the beginning , it will be a more mature version, with fewer errors, and more complete, although it will obviously not reach the point of a major update, so it will not be necessary to download it on the first day, although it is important to always have the latest versions, especially all for security reasons.
In an upcoming update, possibly iOS 18.4, and one of the final ones before start talking about iOS 19we will see new changes in Apple Intelligence, with the integration of Spanish as a language, and the option that, in the European Union, it can now be used without restrictions, so we only have to wait a little longer, and if you are a developer or beta tester, you will be able to start doing this soon, since it will not take long for them to launch new betas.
And you, are you one of those who install new updates, or, on the contrary, do you prefer to have your iPhone the same for months, and only do it out of necessity, or in large versions? Leave us a comment with your opinion.
