It makes sense that larger smartphones, like Apple’s Pro Max or Samsung’s Ultra, tend to offer longer battery life thanks to a larger-than-average battery. However, new tests reveal that the iPhone 16 Pro Max outperforms all its competitors this year, by a wide margin. Apple had promised, autonomy is the strong point of the new range.
Apple offers the best autonomy
According to the autonomy classification maintained by the American site Tom’s Guidethe iPhone 16 Pro Max, equipped with a battery of 4685mAhheld 18 hours and 6 minutes during testing. This performance exceeds that of other flagship models, including the OnePlus 12which lasted 17 hours and 37 minutes despite a larger battery of 5,400mAh.
The models Galaxy S24 Plus And Galaxy S24 Ultra from Samsung did even worse, with respective durations of 16 hours 46 minutes And 4:45 p.m.. Interestingly, both of these phones nevertheless outperformed theiPhone 16 Pluswho recorded 16 hours 29 minutes with a slightly smaller battery of 4674mAhagainst 4,900mAh for the Galaxy S24 Plus.
L’iPhone 16 standard, with 12 hours 43 minutes autonomy, is behind its big brothers, but still shows a significant improvement compared to theiPhone 15who held 11 hours 5 minutes. Likewise, theiPhone 16 Plus added more than two hours compared to theiPhone 15 Pluswhich had a record autonomy for the brand at its launch 2:14 p.m.. This represents a notable increase in performance in just one year, especially for Apple’s standard models. L’iPhone 16 Pro Max saw the biggest improvement, offering more four hours overtime of autonomy in relation toiPhone 15 Pro Max. Even the “small” iPhone 16 Pro also benefited from a considerable improvement, surpassing theiPhone 15 Pro of three and a half hours.
On the other hand, the series Pixel 9 of Google is lagging behind. THE Pixel 9 And Pixel 9 Pro each reached approximately 1:30 p.m.while the Pixel 9 Pro XL lasted 14 hours 37 minuteswell below the impressive figures of the leaders.
