After the Apple Watch Series 4 yesterday, the very last MacBook Pro with butterfly keyboard still supported by Apple, the one launched in May 2019, is now listed as vintage (old) products. This means that anyone with one of Apple’s latest Intel processors is on the verge of becoming obsolete, which usually happens two years after this “vintage” classification. Repairs are still possible, but only as long as spare parts remain available, which is no longer the case for these models.

RIP MBP 15

Life was short and full of pitfalls for the 15-inch MacBook Pro (MBP 15) of 2019, since this laptop only appeared briefly in Apple’s catalog, as it was replaced in November of the same year by the 16-inch model, featuring a more reliable scissor-mechanism keyboard.

The butterfly keyboard, known for its recurring reliability issues, benefited from a repair program that extended the warranty to four years for specific keyboard malfunctions.

However, unlike the Apple Watch 4, the MacBook Pro 2019 can still run the latest version of macOS.

Last July, the iPhone X, the first generation of AirPods and the first HomePod were also added to the list of vintage products.
