Today, we will see some rumors that suggest that Apple would be preparing everything for the release of a new Studio Display model, which would possibly arrive next year, in 2026with new features that would leave behind the current one, which is already a few years old.
New Studio Display in 2026
The new iPad Pro with M5 chip, launched in October 2025, brings an interesting novelty: you can now connect external screens running at 120Hz with Adaptive Sync. That means lower latencies and more fluid movement, that is, very useful for video editing, games or work.
This improvement is relevant because, for the first time, an iPad can offer output at 120 Hz. Until now, Apple devices could work with external monitors at that frequency, but Apple's independent screen, Studio Display, is still limited to 60 Hz.
This change in the iPad Pro coincides with rumors that Apple is preparing a new version of the Studio Display for early 2026. That supposed new screen (codenamed “J427”) could mount an A19 Pro chip and use mini-LED backlight. With mini-LED, the image would gain in brightness, contrast and color compared to the current 5K LCD panel.
If this rumor is confirmed, the new Studio Display would not only have better visual quality due to the mini-LED, but it would also be at the level of the MacBook Pro screens, with support for 120 Hz (ProMotion), which would make the interface more fluid, ideal for video editing, design or some work.
So far all this remains a simple rumor (albeit a strong one). 120 Hz support on the iPad Pro and hardware rumors in development. There is no official confirmation from Apple that the new Studio Display will come out with those features… but it seems quite likely.
In short: the iPad Pro M5 hints that Apple could soon update its external screen and give it an important leap: mini-LED, 120 Hz and better overall quality.
