A few days ago we talked about the real name of this chipset, which was not going to be Snapdragon 8s Eliteas was initially speculated, but rather Snapdragon 8s Gen 4this being a direct renewal of the 8S Gen 3. This is because some of its specifications coincide with each other, although in this case we will see a significant leap.

Qualcomm is one of the most important companies worldwide, and the confidence it generates in multiple brands in terms of quality, safety and reliability has always been a key factor. In this case, we believe that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 has what is necessary to become, once again, a reference within the premium mid -range. Let's look at your main contributions.

Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 novelties

To start, this soc is manufactured in the process node 4 -Nm NM of TSMC. According to the latest reports, this obtains a Kryo CPU, which is an older version than the Oryon nucleus present at the Snapdragon 8 Elite. This is understandable, considering that it seeks to offer a premium experience without raising the cost too much.

As for its configuration, the CPU is composed of:

  • 1 Cortex-X4 main core with 3.2 GHz
  • 3 Cortex-A720 nuclei to 3.0 GHz
  • 2 Cortex-A720 nuclei to 2.8 GHz
  • 2 Cortex-A520 nuclei to 2.0 GHz

According to Qualcomm, this configuration offers performance 31% faster that Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, with energy consumption 39% lower. In addition, this chipset incorporates the Adreno 825 GPUwhich improves graphic performance by 49%. He also inherits Snapdragon Elite Gaming functions, such as Snapdragon Game Super Resolution 2.0 and Adreno Image Motion Engine 2.0, which sounds promising in the gaming field.

We cannot forget the NPU Qualcomm Hexagonwhich in this generation offers performance 44% higher in artificial intelligence tasks (AI). It also has an 18 -bit triple image signal processor (ISP), compatible with sensors up to 320MP, and allows 4K HDR video recording at 60 fps.

This new processor also includes compatibility with Wi-Fi 7Bluetooth 6.0, UFS 4.0 storage, RAM LPDDR5X and USB 3.1 Gen 2 connectivity.

Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is expected to debut with the IQOO Z10 TURBOwhose launch is estimated for this month of April. Also, brands such as Xiaomi, Oppo, Honor and Motorola would also be working on devices with this chipset.
