So far, if someone had two accounts with content purchased in each one, there was no way to unify those purchases, but finally Apple has changed this.

As of today, Apple allows to migrate applications, music, books, series and movies from a secondary account to a main account. Although this function is not yet available in Spain and will take time to be implemented in our country, it will simplify the lives of those who, for various reasons, have ended with multiple Apple ID accounts. The function was announced together with an official Apple support document, in which the company explains step by step how to complete the process.

How to Merge Apple Accounts

To carry out shopping migration, certain requirements must be met. Both Apple ID must have two -step authentication activatedthey cannot be shared with other people and must belong to the same country. In addition, the secondary account cannot have pending balance or active subscriptions that prevent the transfer. Until now, they are simple requirements.

The process is carried out from an iPhone or iPad with both Apple ID linked: one for ICloud and one for purchases. Within settings, in the 'Purchasing History' section, an option will appear that says 'migrate/transfer purchases'. When activating it, the content acquired with the secondary account is transferred to the main account, leaving the secondary disabled for future purchases.

The process not only passes digital purchases from one account to another, but also payment methods and subscriptions linked to secondary account. In addition, Apple TV users will see that their list of pending reproductions will merge with that of the new main Apple ID, prioritizing the contents of the migrated account.

It still does not reach Spain

However, not everything is good news. Apple has confirmed that this function It is not available in the European Union, the United Kingdom or Indialeaving out millions of users who will have to continue dealing with separate accounts. There have been no details about whether this limitation is due to specific regulations or if in the future it could be extended to more countries.

For years, Apple has maintained its system of accounts and purchases very closed and strict, without allowing the content to be passed from one to another or making changes between them. This has always been very criticized by users, who have been forced to have to deal with several Apple accounts to manage their purchases or their Icloud cloud storage space.

The purchasing option is now available in the last update of iOS and Ipados, and users can begin to consolidate their accounts from today. For those who have accumulated years of content in different Apple ID, this change represents a long -awaited solution.
