Uber’s latest update, version 3.642.10002 on iPhone, introduces several new features aimed at improving user convenience, especially during peak travel season. Among the new features, Uber presented a home screen widget, allowing its customers to request a ride in just two clicks.
Uber is more convenient on iPhone
To streamline the experience during the Christmas holiday period, Uber has focused on four new features including one exclusive to iOS.
- Home screen widget: this feature allows iPhone users to request a ride in just two clicks. The widget can display saved addresses for home and work, and users can quickly search for other destinations using a magnifying glass icon. You need to make sure the operating system and your Uber app are updated to the latest versions to use this widget.
- UberXXL option: For those traveling with extra luggage or in larger groups, UberXXL offers vehicles with more trunk space. This is particularly useful for airport journeys. Uber has made this option available in many airports around the world, with expansion planned. Uber One members can receive a promotional offer of $20 Uber Cash back on their next UberXXL ride for a specified period.
- UberX sharing in airports: This feature aims to reduce costs by allowing travelers to share their ride with another person, potentially saving up to 25% compared to an UberX fare. Uber is now available at select airports in the United States and abroad, with plans to expand further.
- Reservations improvements:
- Flight Capture: Users can enter flight details and Uber will suggest the optimal time to depart for the airport based on flight schedules and traffic conditions.
- Flight tracking: If a flight is delayed, Uber will notify the user and offer to adjust the pickup time.
- Multiple Stops: You can now add multiple stops when booking a trip, which is handy for holiday travel logistics or errands.
- Uber Shuttle to LaGuardia: After a successful launch, Uber added a direct route from downtown Manhattan to LaGuardia Airport, expanding its shuttle service to offer more affordable airport transportation options.
The launch was carefully thought out, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday period, then Christmas. Enough to remain the leader in VTC.
