The new Mac mini is one of Apple’s best surprises of the year. Presented on October 29, this uses the M4 or M4 Pro chips, which considerably boost the power compared to the previous version. But in addition to that, Apple has revised the design of the Mac mini in order to offer a more compact case. This has a square format measuring 12.7 cm on each side and according to Apple, compared to the previous model, the new Mac mini takes up 50% less space.
Here’s the inside of the new Mac mini
“It owes its ultra-compact form factor to the incredible energy efficiency of Apple chips and an innovative thermal architecture, which directs air to different levels of the system and which routes all ventilation through the base”explained the Cupertino company. And we didn’t have to wait long for this new Mac mini to get a proper teardown.
In a recently published video, YouTube channel Brandon Geekabit shares a teardown of the new Mac mini, to give us a clearer idea of how Apple went about miniaturizing this computer. This disassembly allows us to discover the elements that make up Apple’s new cooling system, and to observe the M4 chip. Otherwise, as the YouTuber explains, the power supply takes up almost as much space as the computer itself. And besides, if Apple wanted to further miniaturize its Mac mini, it could do so by using an external power supply. Otherwise, as our colleagues from iPhon.fr explain, if the RAM memory is not removable, the SSD is removable.
An inexpensive Mac to take advantage of Apple Intelligence
In addition to its ultra-compact format, the new Mac mini also has the advantage of having a relatively affordable price, compared to other Macs. Indeed, the starting price is 699 euros. The device is of course compatible with Apple Intelligence.
