According to renowned Bloomberg journalist, Mark Gurman, this model will be approximately 2 millimeters thinner than the current iPhone 16 Pro, marking a milestone in the history of iPhones by becoming the thinnest ever created.

A design that redefines the thinness of the iPhone

The iPhone 16 Pro is 8.25 mm thick, but the next iPhone 17 Air would reduce this figure at an impressive 6.25 mm. To put it in context, this new thickness is even lower than that of the iPhone 6, which until now held the record at 6.9 mm. This reduction, which seems more like a technological leap than a simple aesthetic improvement, is achieved without compromising key elements such as the battery, the camera or the quality of the screen.

The achievement is possible thanks to new 5G modem designed by Applea smaller, highly integrated chip that frees up space inside the device. This advance not only benefits the slim design, but also reinforces Apple’s commitment to its technological independence, by reducing dependence on Qualcomm modems.

In addition to its thinness, the iPhone 17 Air will have a screen about 6.6 inches and a single-lens rear camera system. Although it may seem like a simple setup compared to the Pro models, the device will be designed to balance functionality, design and price. It will be one of the three devices in which Apple will implement its 5G modem in 2025, along with the iPhone SE and a low-cost iPad.

This strategy allows Apple to continue perfecting its modem technology in lower-end devices before bringing it to flagship models, such as the iPhone Pro.

The iPhone 17 Air marks an evolution in the iPhone line and suggests a future with innovative designs, such as a possible folding model. In addition, Apple is working on integrating the processor, modem and Wi-Fi into a single chip, which will allow for thinner devices, greater energy efficiency and better integration between hardware and software.

Availability and expectations of the new iPhone 17 Air

The iPhone 17 Air is scheduled to be launched in September 2025along with the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models. With its ultra-slim design, a price that will be more affordable and the incorporation of new technologies, this model is expected to attract a wide variety of users.

Apple appears to be redefining expectations when it comes to mobile design and technology, showing that there is still room to innovate in a saturated market. With the iPhone 17 Air, the company is not only betting on aesthetics, but also on a optimized user experience that promises to set a trend.

In short, this model could become one of the most talked about launches in the coming years and one more step in Apple’s ambition to lead the future of smartphones.
