After the terrible fire which ravaged the emblematic Parisian cathedral in April 2019, the work is finally finished and Notre-Dame de Paris reopens its doors to the delight of Parisians and tourists. Obviously, Uber was not going to miss this opportunity to offer a timeless immersive experience.
With a sedan in the colors of Notre-Dame, Uber is putting Paris and the Île de la Cité in the spotlight for a few days. Cherry on the cake? Lorànt Deutsch joins the ride with a new podcast. It was therefore impossible for us not to get on board to live the Uber Notre-Dame experience.
A perfect activity to (re)discover Paris
Ah… We missed Notre-Dame. More than five years after its fire, the most famous cathedral in the world is back, more beautiful and sparkling than ever. It was on this occasion that Uber decided to allow its users to experience a journey…very Parisian.
Uber has pimped out a sedan with a design incorporating the striking elements of Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral. Thus, its exterior is covered with an ancient stone effect and we note the presence of magnificent arches and the rose window of the South window. Also, two gargoyles are perched on the roof of the vehicle and watch over the passengers. Finally, inside, its panoramic roof is covered with a reproduction of the monument’s stained glass windows. It couldn’t be more immersive. Once in this rather special Uber, all you have to do is observe the Île de la Cité and, of course, Notre-Dame. We were very amused by the bewildered looks of the passers-by we passed.
On board, Uber asked Lorànt Deutsch to help us experience “the beautiful Paris”. For a twenty-minute journey around Notre-Dame de Paris and the Île de la Cité, the actor and writer, a history buff, recounts anecdotes about the famous cathedral in a podcast specifically designed for experience. Enough to (re)discover the History of Paris in optimal conditions.
While we may not have expected much, it’s true, this experience turned out to be surprising and quite enriching. If you are one of those Parisians who no longer marvel at the beauty of the City of Lights or if you are planning a trip to Paris as the end-of-year holidays approach, this may be a good idea for an activity.
Especially since Uber has chosen to provide this experience for free. So, from the Quai du Louvre in Paris, anyone can order an Uber Notre-Dame ride for a free, historic trip around the famous cathedral. It’s available until December 22.
