After the release of the Mac Mini, we have once again focused on a detail that the company highlights in the manufacture of these devices, and that we have already seen in others in the past, and that is «Carbon Neutral«, and although we can intuit what it means, we do not know exactly all the details, so today we are going to see them.
This type of manufacturing is not something imposed by any government or law, and it is the company itself that, voluntarily, wants to set an example of a healthy product for the environment and that everyone should create this way to try to “save the planet.”
What is Carbon Neutral?
In simple terms to explain, this means that, in this case, Apple has managed balance your carbon emissionsso that any carbon dioxide it emits is offset by actions that eliminate or avoid that same amount of CO2 in the atmosphere.
One of the company’s objectives is to all its products are Carbon Neutral by 2030something that, although it is simple for some, is not so simple for others, although being in 2024, there are already several devices that comply with it, so it does not look bad at all.
All of this is achieved through using renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, and adopting sustainable practices in the production and distribution of its devices. For example, the entire Apple Park, which houses many of Apple’s offices and where most presentations are recorded, is surrounded by solar panelswhich means that they do not spend anything on electrical energy, something that helps a lot to reach this goal.
The Apple Watch Series 9 has been, more than 1 year ago, the first Carbon Neutral product, so they have already achieved that one of their best-selling devices has no impact on the atmosphere, continuing with this Mac Mini M4, which will be another great success for Tim Cook’s team.
Carbon-neutral Apple Watch models now use 100% clean electricity thanks to investments and energy sourcing from Apple and its suppliers. Additionally, all suppliers that make parts and components for these models have committed to using 100% renewable electricity in all of their production for Apple by the end of this decade.
For now More products are expected to be added to this collection in 2025although there are still many years until 2030, Apple’s goal, and what it seems they are going to achieve if they continue on this path, so we will be very attentive to the next releases.
And you, are you one of those who pay attention to these things when purchasing new equipment, or were you honestly going to buy it whether it had Carbon Neutral or not? For my part, I think that Apple is different, and anyone who really needs or is looking for a product from the brand is not going to look at this, although it is nice to know that your new device has not contaminated the atmosphere, something is something.
