Samsung is preparing the launch of its next series of high-end smartphones which, normally, will be released in the first quarter of 2025. And if you are planning to buy one of Samsung’s new flagships, you may already be wondering which processor the models of this new series will use.
Indeed, Samsung could equip part of its production with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, and another part with an Exynos chip. And some media even suggest that some models could use a Mediatek processor. But it’s also possible that Samsung will offer the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip on all models of the Galaxy S25 series, in all regions.
For now, the mystery is complete. But the chip that Samsung includes in a model could significantly impact its performance. And a good portion of the manufacturer’s fans will probably want to use a Galaxy S25 with a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor inside. Unveiled by Qualcomm in October, this new component for high-end smartphones promises monstrous performance.
Samsung will use this processor, but…
As a reminder, the Snapdragon 8 Elite uses Qualcomm’s Oryon core and, thanks to this technology, the chip has a CPU that is 45% more efficient compared to the previous version, while improving energy efficiency by 44%. At the GPU level, we have a 40% improvement in performance and a 40% improvement in energy efficiency. The evolution, compared to the Snapdragon 8 gen 3 which equips most 2024 flagships, is therefore radical.
The good news is that Qualcomm has already announced that Samsung will use this new chip. But that doesn’t mean that the manufacturer will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite on all of its high-end models. However, a recent publication from Ice Universe, a source which is regularly relayed by the media, gives a glimmer of hope. “I repeat that all versions of the Galaxy S25 series worldwide adopt the Snapdragon 8 Elite, and will not adopt the Exynos,” he wrote in a recent post on the social network caution remains in order, pending the official announcement.
Galaxy S25: what release date?
Rumors are also circulating about the possible release date of the Galaxy S25 and its variants. One of these rumors suggests that Samsung could bring forward the release of its next flagships, and market them from the beginning of January. But other sources indicate that the Galaxy S25 would not arrive until after January 20.
