Even though Apple Watch has been on the market for more than a decade, users of this device do not have a WhatsApp that allows them to read or respond to messages directly from the watch, something frustrating for, especially, those who have the LTE version with built-in data.

Currently, it only allows read notifications from different appsamong which, logically, is WhatsApp, but very limited, since we will only be able to see that message that has been sent to us, without playing an audio, or seeing an image clearly, for example. Something that could change soon.

WhatsApp for Apple Watch soon?

WhatsApp is testing for the first time a native app for the Apple Watchas MacRumors let us know on October 30, 2025. They are distributing it to some users through TestFlight to see how it works on the wrist before releasing it to everyone, so it is in beta, and we cannot test it, unless we are one of the lucky ones.

The beta version now allows you to do useful things without taking out the iPhone: read messages, reply with short texts or emojis, react and record voice memos from the watch. Of course (and this is important), the Apple Watch still needs an iPhone connected with WhatsApp installed so that everything is synchronized, as is the case on the rest of the platforms, since it is still not independent, and we can only have it officially installed on one side.

Until now the watch only showed notifications; It didn't allow for real interaction. With this app, WhatsApp would get closer to what Telegram or iMessage already offer in watchOS: being able to answer and manage conversations directly from the wrist without having to pick up the iPhone to do so, even for a simple “ok.”

Goal has not given a public release dateso for now this is just a test between testers, and although they want to tell us that it would be very close, it is not official, and even if they are not convinced, they could go back and never take it out, even though it would be strange.

In short: it is good news for those who use WhatsApp daily. If everything goes well in the beta, we could soon see a stable version that makes messaging from the Apple Watch much more comfortable and practical. I am sure that many users have not bought an Apple watch because of this, so the release of the app officially would lead quite a few people to reconsider, since it is not normal that, after 11 years, the watch is still without it.

It is not something strange, since the iPads were the same, however, during 2025, we saw an official app for them for the first time, which further reinforces the theory that finally Meta and Apple are working so that WhatsApp can be on all devices of the brand officially, without having to download strange apps or emulate it in unsafe ways.

And you, did you already need this update, or will you simply continue using your iPhone to respond to messages? Leave us a comment with your opinion.
