Apple is also releasing the final version of watchOS 11.1 to customers around the world. The new software arrives about a week after Apple released the Release Candidate to developers, and on the same day as iOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1 which bring the first wave of Apple Intelligence. Except that here, there is nothing new to eat.

Nothing new on watchOS

watchOS 11.1 can be installed by going to the Apple Watch app and selecting the Software Update section under “General” in Settings.

Across the various betas, no major new features have been discovered in the watchOS 11.1 update, although Apple’s release notes indicate that there is a fix for an issue that could cause issues. Write breathing disturbance data to the Health app.

This update includes improvements and bug fixes, including a fix for an issue writing respiratory disturbance data to HealthKit for some users.

watchOS 11.1 is not essential, but certainly contains many small fixes as well as security patches.

What’s new in watchOS 11

For the record, watchOS 11 introduced some important features, including the “Training load” to analyze sporting efforts over several days, the possibility of pausing activity circles in the event of injury, and the application “Vital Signs” to monitor heart rate. It also includes sleep apnea detection for Apple Watch 9, 10 and Ultra 2. Other new features include AI-generated watch faces, Double Tap to third-party apps, and exercises with enhanced GPS tracking. Users also benefit from real-time notifications via Live Activities in the app Tidesand new customization options for swimming and hiking. Finally, Check In allows you to notify your loved ones of your arrival, and Tap to Cash makes it easy to transfer money between Apple Watch or iPhone devices in the United States.
