One of the main novelties of the iPhone 16 is its new buttonoriented towards the camera, and which is used to take photos, change its parameters, record a video, etc. It is a different type of button than the rest, as it works simply by contact, without having to press, like any of the others.
This means that, logically, it could be somewhat more expensive, however, the price that Apple will charge us if it breaks is absurd, and I think that no person would pay for it, especially because despite being quick access to many functions, it is not essential for the correct functioning of the phone.
This year is the first in which we see this new button, and many people are curious to try it, although they may be put off by knowing what it costs, or at least the price of the repair, since in terms of costs, it does not can be very high, since the models maintain prices from previous years.
However, if it has a fault and has to be replaced (as long as it is our fault, and not something that comes under the warranty), we will have to pay about 580 euros for the 16 and 16 Plus models, and about 675 euros in the Pro and Pro Max modelsor what is the same, half a phone. It is something absurd, and designed so that no one does it, since it is a button that does not add new functions, but simply makes them more comfortable, because no one is going to pay that to fix it again.
Even if we use AppleCare+we could end up having to pay some 99 eurosso we do not believe that, even for that amount, anyone will replace it, unless they make a living from doing reports with the phone, and I compensate them for the change, since I, at least, would not pay anything if it breaks, despite that could be very useful and interesting.
For now there are no technical services that repair this button independently of Apple, although they will soon begin, and it may be that, like Face ID, the cameras, or even the charging connector, will cost us a few euros, and not the hundreds that the company wants to get us for a simple repair, although we will have to see the real price of the button, and if Apple does not cover it only with original parts. For now I hope that no one has broken it, or at least that it is not due to a fall, since, as we repeat, if it stops working without any type of impact, it should fall under the warranty.
And you, what do you think about this? Have you been able to try the button?Do you really think it’s worth paying to fix it?How much would you be willing? I think it is that typical novelty that in 2 months nobody uses anymore, so they won’t even know if it works or not, since it won’t be something common for the majority of users, so if it breaks, setting this price makes no one want to repair it.
