2024: a great year for Apple
Despite the political turbulence in 2024, Apple had a spectacular year financially, accumulating billions of dollars every month as usual and launching a great series of new products. As the year draws to a close, here’s a recap of what’s new from Apple in 2024.
February — Vision Pro
Officially presented on January 19, the Apple Vision Pro went on sale on February 2. This revolutionary AR/VR headset was a dazzling success in its first month on the market. Initially available only in the United States, it attracted fans from other countries who did not hesitate to travel to obtain it. Social media has been flooded with videos, some quite funny showing users wearing the headset in the street. A massive advertisement for Apple.
The initial frenzy around the Apple Vision Pro faded pretty quickly. Currently, after 10 months of marketing, it is estimated that less than 500,000 copies have been sold worldwide. However, this figure does not worry Tim Cook, who has repeatedly reaffirmed, during various interviews, the objectives of this technological niche.
The Apple Vision Pro arrived in France on July 12 at a price of €3,999. Testers in the Apple Store are unanimous: the device offers new sensations for a technological product. However, Apple will need to find a way to offer a more affordable Vision Pro in the coming years to attract a wider audience.
March — MacBook Air M3
Apple revealed the MacBook Air M3 on March 4th and put it on sale just 4 days later on Friday March 8th. This MacBook, faithful to its principles, is the worthy successor to the M2 model. It stands out for its unrivaled lightness, support for two external screens, impressive battery life and discreet sound during full effort. Apple likes to call it “the world’s most popular laptop.” And frankly, it’s the best value for money in a laptop from Apple, even more so on promotion.
May — iPad Pro M4, iPad Air 6 and Pencil Pro
To celebrate the arrival of sunny days, Apple unveiled two new iPads on May 7, putting them on sale from Wednesday May 15. The iPad Pro M4 has generated enthusiasm thanks to its finesse and power, confirming Apple’s domination of the tablet market. As a bonus, an Apple Pencil Pro was launched at the same time, allowing even more advanced navigation on the most advanced screen in the world, according to Apple.
The iPad Air 6, also compatible with the Pencil Pro, is gradually getting closer to its big brother for a more attractive price. Like the iPad Pro, the iPad Air 6 now comes in two screen sizes, 11-inch and 13-inch. It is equipped with the M2 chip, already too powerful for the majority of users.
June — Apple Intelligence
At WWDC on June 10, Apple presented Apple Intelligence, its new generative artificial intelligence. Although its launch has been delayed until 2025 and some features are still in development, Apple Intelligence brings a breath of fresh air to the Apple ecosystem. Thanks to the collaboration with ChatGPT, this AI will be increasingly integrated into iPhones, iPads, Macs, and other Apple devices over the years to come.
July — HomePod mini midnight color
On July 15, 2024, in the heart of summer, Apple introduced a new midnight color for the HomePod mini. This shade, appreciated for its sobriety, contrasts with the models in yellow, orange and blue. This change brings a small refresh while waiting for the new HomePod mini equipped with a home Wi-Fi chip planned for 2025.
September — iPhone 16, Apple Watch Series 10, iOS 18, macOS Sequoia…
Like every year at the start of the school year, Apple presents its new range of iPhones. Four new iPhone 16s are revealed, followed a week later by the release of iOS 18. This is also the time for users to install all the new updates on their devices, whether iPads, Macs, Vision Pro or Apple Watch. It’s the most anticipated time of the year for Apple fans.
In keeping with tradition, a new Apple Watch Series is also on the program. Despite the connected watch being 10 years old, no major changes have been made to its exterior design. It nevertheless continues to shine on the market by being the best-selling watch in the world. The famous Apple Watch Series 10.

October — iPad mini, iMac, Mac mini and MacBook Pro
On October 15, Apple introduced the iPad mini 7 with the A17 Pro chip. Compatible with the Apple Pencil Pro, this iPad mini is finally powerful enough to use Apple Intelligence optimally. Apple particularly highlights this aspect to encourage users to adopt these new devices, despite the limited new features.
October 29 marked the big announcement of the month with the reveal of the M4 chip range and the first three devices equipped: the iMac, the Mac mini and the MacBook Pro. The iMac sports new colors, the Mac mini becomes even more compact and the MacBook Pro gains more power. Apple Intelligence also standardizes 16 GB of RAM on base models, a significant step forward.
