All of us who have a MacBook Air M1we know how good it is, however, not to the point of being able to be used as a human shield, and that is not its function, even though the news we will see today is related to this, and is quite surprising.
It was launched 6 years ago, and currently it is still a very powerful device, with the latest updates, and capable of offering ideal performance for most people. However, also for bullets, or that is what we have been able to verify this week.
MacBook Air stops a bullet and doesn't break
Hard things happen in a war, but from time to time a story that is as absurd as it is surprising appears. That is exactly what happened with a Ukrainian soldier and his MacBook Air with M1 chip. According to what he himself said on social networks, a fragment of an artillery shell hit his laptop directly. The normal thing would be to think that it was scrapped. Well no.
The computer ended up with a visible hole in the case and the screen was badly damaged.but it still kept turning on and working. In the videos you can see that macOS starts and that the computer responds, although it is obviously not in normal conditions. Still, it's hard to believe that after something like this the laptop didn't die instantly.
The soldier explained that he used the MacBook at the front for quite basic things: communicating, reviewing information or simply distracting himself for a while when the situation allowed it. At that point, the laptop ended up doing something no one designed it to do: take the impact of an explosion fragment and absorb part of the blow.
It is important to make clear that this does not make the MacBook a “war-proof” object. Apple does not make computers for the battlefield, and this has been purely by chance. Even so, the aluminum chassis and structure of the equipment demonstrated unexpected resistance in a totally extreme situation. If it were touch-sensitive, like the iPhone or iPad, we would not be able to use it anymore, however, in this case, since the screen does not completely break, it is still functional, despite being as it is.

The owner of the laptop himself acknowledges that fixing it doesn't make much sense. The damage is so great that the repair would cost almost the same as buying a new one, and being a 6-year-old model, it is not worth it. Despite that, the story has gone viral, and no wonder.
It is not an advertisement, nor a test sought by the protagonist himself. It's simply one of those rare cases in which an object ends up playing a key role where it doesn't belong, reminding us that even something as normal as a laptop can end up starring in an incredible story.
