At the beginning of the year we talked about a very interesting topic, and that is that Apple had been sued for its 5 GB of free storage, which, according to most people, are not enough to make a copy of the system, and which should provide us with more, since they would be forcing us to pay for it.
However, for Apple, these are more than enough, at least to make a copy of the system, and if we need more for photos, apps, or thousands of emails, then we will have to purchase a plan with more capacity. However, will they, regardless of whether they are right or wrong, increase the capacity soon, or will we stick with 5GB?
Apple will increase its base iCloud plan
During this month, some people have seen a screen that indicated a storage change on their iPhone, which, despite not being confirmed, and not explaining anything else (it may have been an error by Apple launching it ahead of time), suggests that the company would be about to improve its planswhich would imply a change in all its rates, from the free one to the most expensive.
Every year, programs, photos, videos and any file take up more, due to their improvement in quality, so the 5 GB that years ago was enough, now we barely have enough for a couple of good videos on high resolution recorded with the iPhone 16, so there is no choice but to improve this.
All plans are expected to be expanded, which means that not only it is likely that we will go from 5 GB to 10 GB free (Google already has 15 GB), but the 0.99 euro rate could be for 100 GB, instead of 50 GB, or what is the same, doubling the cloud storage in all plans, something that we already usually see in the iPhone, which years ago went from 64 GB to 128 GB without increasing cost, and which will now go for 256 GB.
This movement may mean that other companies like Google have to react, because they maintain similar prices, costing 100 GB of Drive, 1.99 eurosdouble that of iCloud’s 50 GB, so if Apple doubles the capacity while maintaining the price, we would see what Google does, since it could lose many customers in favor of Apple.
And you, are you one of those who pays for iCloud every month? The truth is that if you have an iPhone, you have few better options, since the integrity of its own system makes it almost essential, what’s more, in apps like WhatsApp, we will have no other option than to choose iCloud for copies, so they would be forcing usand that is something for which they were sued, since even if we use another service, or even our own NAS, we depend on Apple, that is, we will have to pay more if we want our copies to be secure and can be made. Leave us a comment with your opinion about it and if you have a contracted plan or plan to do so in case they double their capacity for the same price.
